A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT. A BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 12 PM CST TUESDAY. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ALSO ISSUED A BLIZZARD WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
IN ADDITION... ARCTIC AIR MOVING INTO NORTHERN ILLINOIS BEHIND THIS SYSTEM WILL ALSO PRODUCE BITTER WIND CHILLS OF 15 BELOW TO 20 BELOW TUESDAY MORNING.
A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS... MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL... HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED... STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE.

.A STRONG WINTER STORM SYSTEM IS MOVING INTO NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA THIS EVENING. ACCUMULATING SNOW IS EXPECTED TONIGHT FROM THIS STORM... WITH TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES POSSIBLE ACROSS FAR NORTHERN ILLINOIS... AND 1 TO 3 INCHES ELSEWHERE. AS THE LOW MOVES EAST THIS EVENING... STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING TO 35 MPH WILL DEVELOP WHICH WILL RESULT IN SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND POSSIBLY BLIZZARD OR NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS OVERNIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING WITH WIDESPREAD VISIBILITIES OF LESS THAN ONE QUARTER OF A MILE.

Were getting a blast of artic air starting tonight our cold is dipping by quite a bit and is predicted to last a week.BRRRRRRRR!!!

Geeze, glad to hear that you are all snug, looks like a doozy! Course it may just be gathering itself for full steam over the Great Lakes, and BAM! all on top of Buffalo again LOL

Wow, I've never been in a blizzard. I've read about them in Laura Ingalls books, and that's all.
Australian winters were never up to much, and now that I live right at the Gulf of Mexico... well, I was wearing a sundress outdoors on Christmas day. Not very Christmassy.
Gee, our weather forcasters keep showing your weather with the promise that the extreem cold will be here by Thursday.
I remember the winters in Buffalo. I taught school that winter and it seemed that there was always 6 inches of slush on the roads. They never canceled school though.But I was young then.
