It's tough being me!

.
I have to get up really early when the natives get restless!

Hafta make room for the neighbors ..

Need to hang stuff ..

Make sure everybody is comfy!

.. and everyone is fed, Jake loves pasta!

And unpack, unpack, unpack.  It seems to never end.

Apparently this is the ever-lasting move.  (S'cuse the cell phone picks but you guessed it - haven't unpacked the good camera yet.)

My kingdom for a nail clipper!

So this moving thing - I'll be writing about it until every last box is emptied.  That might be a long time. I was going to be so organized marking every box with the room it belonged in and writing a bit about what was inside on the top - as well as putting big arrows on the side for upstairs or downstairs.  Heh.

This WILL be my craft room.  Ahem.
If only.

At some point I think I was just overwhelmed and my daughter had to rescue me, thank you Dani.  I threw out or donated half of what I own I swear, and many heard me say "see?  I'm not a hoarder. . " or maybe that was just Dani listening.

That I ended up in the new house with all (okay most of) the items I wanted to keep is a miracle but finding what I need has not come easily.  I know Cathy, I know!  I should have put notes in the boxes!

I had to BUY nail clippers yesterday before I started putting holes in my socks.  No clue where any others are although I have used some since I've been here.  This organization thing just doesn't seem to come naturally to me although really, I think it's a skill I possessed in greater measure at some other time in my life.

My kingdom for a professional organizer!

Moving is a great reminder

.

Try to keep your belongings to a controlled minimum.

And maybe someday you won't be faced with trying to box, bag, or very possibly BURN all this stuff when it's time for the movers to come.

C'est la vie!

.

Whatever will be, will be .. oh wait.  That's que sera, sera .. they both mean the same thing anyway.  Basically.  So no, I did not get the townhouse.  There was already a contract on it and well .. it's time to look elsewhere.  They say things happen for a reason right?  I mean - it's not like I cook or anything, why do I need a perfect kitchen??

Anyway, onward and upward.  Something else will come along.

Sometimes I just don't think things through.

.
Remember that other blog (which one??) I started at the end of last year?  The one I used WordPress for?  Ugh.  I wasn't concerned about only having one, sometimes two readers.  But honestly, I felt like I couldn't breathe over there!  I felt stifled, I couldn't .. MESS WITH ANYTHING!

So when you're frustrated in a situation like that, what do you do?  Sit back and think about the best options.  Is there a way to move the content?  Is there a way to export the template .. how would you work it out?  And once you had a plan, you would work away until you had the new site just the way you wanted it before you put something up on the old site saying I'VE MOVED .. or find another way to redirect traffic.

You wouldn't just delete the offending blog, would you?

Then I guess you're not me.

I Know, Right has moved.  To Blogger, where I can mess with stuff.

The other one has gone somewhere else.

Recently I wrote about my
other blog, and the problems I was having with it. I could not get the format to change in the date stamp and comment areas. I mean I tried everything I could think of and a few things other people suggested. I loved the template and the whole look of the blog but those 2 things I could not change made.me.crazy. I think I am learning from this blog just how anal retentive I am about some things.

In the end I decided to do what any other normal (read-neurotic) blogger would do. I duplicated the entire freaking blog using a new URL, with just a one digit difference. I did not know of a way to transfer all of the old posts to the new URL so I laboriously copied and pasted every detail, down to each posts' date and time, from the old to the new. If there was an "export" function I did not know about in Blogger - DON'T TELL ME NOW!

Finally, today, I moved the last old post to the new location and then - put up a "moved" post. Unfortunately I was not able to move any comments I had, and I cannot move the few followers I have. I am hoping anyone who follows that blog - will do me the huge favor of moving on to my new one. It's exactly the same except for date stamp and commenting features I was finally able to get just the way I want them. So please update your bookmarks for A Picture a Day, and come have a look. What? It doesn't look any different? Yeah, I know. It's supposed to be that way. Except now if you want to comment it's at the BOTTOM of the post. Like normal! (But it is still a difference blog address. Really.)

A room without a view.

I have moved. From my beloved desk with the big windows, surrounded by the people I have worked with since forever, to a room upstairs in the back corner of the building that I will share with a co-worker who does the same thing I do. To put it bluntly - they needed my desk downstairs.

I could have been offended but it seems I am much more laid back about these things than I once was. I have seen so many changes at my workplace in the last 5 years that it barely fazes me anymore. Well, and I know I'm just upstairs from all those people who I would miss terribly if I had to move to a whole different facility.

The room I am sharing is actually a nice size for 2 people, and will be more conducive to the kind of work we do. There are 2 big workstations, cubes if you will, a bookcase, standing coat tree, and a fridge. Ahem. Fridge. Hey - my daughter only used it for 2 semesters at school, so now - I am using it. At some point we will acquire a microwave and that will be enough to keep us happy.

Plus being upstairs has already had me huffing and puffing a couple of times going up and down today, so if I continue to take the stairs and not the elevator - this move could even be very healthy for me.

If it doesn't kill me first!!! Sheesh! Huff! Puff! Talk to you later. Cough, cough, wheeeeeeeeze !!!
